CONNECT GROW SERVE

Since the summer the leadership of our church has been studying, discussing, praying, and planning for the next chapter in the life of our church. This Sunday, you will have the chance to learn about a new plan for growing our church by focusing on the spiritual growth of each person at SLPC.

The sermon in each of our services will be about our need to keep maturing in faith, and the annual meeting at 10:00 a.m. will focus specifically on  our new "Connect, Grow, Serve" plan.

Holiday service times: 

• Christmas Eve Candlelight Service - 7pm
• Christmas Morning - 10am
• New Year's Day - 10am

It's easy to spend a lot of time focusing on what to gifts to get our loved ones this year, but we need to remember that Christmas is about God's gift to us. Join us as we exxplore and experience the angel announcing God's gift to Mary, and realize how we are all "favored by God."

First Sunday of Advent - November 27

It's easy for us to get caught up in the holiday busyness and miss what Christmas is all about. This Sunday we'll be going deep into the Bible story to learn how we can keep our focus on God as we approach Christmas Day.

The Greatest Story: A Bible Overview

Everybody loves a great story, and God has given us the greatest story ever told in the Bible. It's a tale of God's love and faithfulness throughout the generations. Come join Pastor Shawn as we take a look at The Greatest Story: A Bible Overview. In fifteen sessions you'll get a complete overview of the story and message of the Bible.

This class is great for those unfamiliar with the Bible, who need a refresher, or want to study the big picture of scripture. Each week we will watch a brief video artistically presenting the week's lesson and then explore the lesson through scripture reading, discussion, and Biblical maps and charts for you to take home.  The Greatest Story begins on October 23 at 10:00 a.m. in the Youth House. 

Five Easy Steps to an Unhappy Life

Nobody wants to be unhappy, yet at times we all make choices that bring us to places of dissapointment and hurt. Join us as we finish our current series about recognizing the things that we do (or don't do) that make us unhappy, and how we can choose a different course.

• Step 4 - Admit Your Mistakes (but keep making them)
• Step 5 - Talk About God's Love (but don't show it) 

Come Celebrate Your Heritage

Please join us on Saturday, September 24th at 5:30 pm for a potluck dinner of foods from around the world! Everyone is welcome to bring a favorite dish that you want to share with others.  It can be something from your family heritage: Jamaican, Indian, Mexican, Italian, German, French, American, or somewhere else.  or maybe you just want to bring a favorite food that your family enjoys.

Entertainment will be provided by renowned international music pianist, Armando Velasquez.  You won't want to miss this spectacular event!

School Supply Drive

We are collecting school supplies for the children in need who attend Clermont Elementary School.  This has turned into an annual event, due to the extreme need in our community. 

Please place donations in the box in the narthex, or drop them by the church office during the week.

Choir Begins Soon!

The SLPC Traditional Choir will begin practice on Wednesday, August 17th, @ 6:45 p.m.  We'll begin singing in worship beginning Sunday, September 11th, in the 11:00 a.m. Traditional Worship service.

We welcome all returning members and invite anyone with a passion for singing to stop by and join.  We're excited to begin a new year with our new Music Director, Tiana Sandh, and new Organist De Cree.

Summer Music & Drama Camp

"Camp Willomocky" was a rousing success!  Many thanks to the children and families who were involved, as well as the volunteers from SLPC, and especially to our new music staff, Tiana Sandh and De Cree. 

4th of July Weekend Worship

Join us on the 4th of July weekend for ONE Sunday service @ 10:00 a.m. on July 3rd, followed by a potluck!  We'll enjoy jazz music, combined worship with folks from all three services, and delicious food.  Please join us.

Pentecost Sunday

Wear red this Sunday, if you like, and join us as we celebrate the birth of the church!  Acts 2:1-21 tells the story of the coming of the Holy Spirit to Jesus' first disciples.  We remember that day with lots of red, and joyful celebration.  Please join us at our 9:00 Contemporary Service (with praise band) or our 11:00 Traditional Service (with organ and special music.)
